Crown of the continent

One of the guys who established Glacier National Park all the way back in 1910 once described it as, “the crown of the continent” and it doesn’t fall short of that statement in any regard.

After driving for four days across 2,042 miles, choosing this stomping ground as the place to rest up and explore before tackling the rest of my roadtrip was a decision that paid off generously. I’m not afraid to say it, I was planning on taking pictures but I had idea that the northern lights were going to be making an appearance until I was about 30 minutes away from their arrival time. Thankfully I got ready just in time for their majestic debut over Lake McDonald.

Glacier really does feel like one of those places that’s frozen in time. Driving through thick forests with no shortage of greenery that escort you to wide expanses of shivering lakes made of mountain run-off. It’s the kind of place that makes it very easy to turn off your phone for a little while.

Today I head for the land of the maple leaf for a few days, and I’m real excited for what’s in store on my way to my final destination!
